Hypocrite!! The dreaded “H” word nobody wants to be called. How about we replace that harsh “H” word with grace and something softer like “HUMAN”. Merriam-Webster defines a hypocrite as a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings. Strong's Concordance defines a hypocrite as an actor. The funny thing about these definitions is that many people operate out of hypocrisy every day and have been practicing it for a very long time.
Some of us for years have created a fake identity and are now convinced that is who we are. We have adopted other people’s values and beliefs concerning us. We have conformed to our family or society’s desires and expectations of us. What has that done? It has caused us to create and deploy a version of that interpretation which we are now living out as though it’s who we authentically are.
Who are you? Before you answer that, remove the ego wall between who you are and the “you”, you created. Forget for a moment what you do and all of your achievements. Let’s take a second to think about who we want to be or always wanted to become and the impact we wanted to make in this world. Think about what brings internal calm and restores your soul. What makes you thrive and feel fulfilled? Who are you under pressure? What are your core values when it comes to family, health, friends, recreation, spirituality, business, finances and personal development? If you’ve never identified those values, how do you know who you are and if you are living out a fake identity?
What causes hypocrisy is when the internal you does not align with the external you. Who you are outward should reflect who you are inward. Our internal values should be what we operate out of. When we do not align with our values we lie to ourselves and others. When we do not align with our values we contradict our design. When we contradict our design we operate out of the bad “H” word and compromise our integrity.
Greatness is not birthed out of lies and we were designed to be great. To be who you were naturally designed to be produces that greatness. The time is now, to choose to be the “Human” you were created to be and release the fictional version that you’ve accepted to project.
